This course will guide you through the fundamentals of microdosing, offering insights and best practices to help you begin this process. Many people report that microdosing has positively influenced their creativity and sense of well-being. Through this course, you will learn how to safely and effectively incorporate microdosing into your life.

A Journey Through Microdosing

Some people turn to microdosing as part of a broader personal development practice. Research into how psychedelics may affect neural flexibility is ongoing — but the science is still preliminary. This course offers educational context, not medical guidance.

Those who have experienced the benefits of microdosing report significant changes in their thought patterns and emotional well-being. While this course does not promise specific outcomes or guarantee results, it aims to provide you with knowledge to make knowledge for your personal development journey.

Important Disclaimers

It is crucial to understand that this course is educational and not a substitute for professional medical advice. Microdosing is not a one-size-fits-all solution, and its effects can vary from person to person. Clinical research on microdosing is still limited, and much of the knowledge comes from personal experiences shared by individuals.

If you are taking any medications that might interact with psychedelics, it is recommended to consult a healthcare professional before beginning a microdosing regimen.

Understanding Microdosing

A microdose is typically defined as 1/10th to 1/20th of a standard dose of a psychedelic substance. The goal is not to experience classic psychedelic effects but to subtly enhance mood, energy levels, and thought patterns. Microdosing should leave you feeling functional and able to complete daily tasks without experiencing hallucinations.

What to Expect from Microdosing

Participants in microdosing report benefits such as improved mood, increased energy, more positive thinking, and a quieter inner critic. The most commonly used substances for microdosing are LSD and psilocybin, though others like San Pedro, Ayahuasca, and Ibogaine have also shown promise.

LSD is often described as providing an outward-focused experience, often described as supporting sustained focus and creative problem-solving. Psilocybin, on the other hand, tends to foster more introspective, inward experiences, making it ideal for self-reflection and emotional processing.

How Long to Try Each Substance

To determine the most effective substance for you, it is recommended to try each for at least a full month before considering a switch. If you choose to switch, a 2-3 week break in between substances is advisable.

Determining the Proper Dose

The key to successful microdosing is to start low and go slow. Begin with the lowest possible dose and gradually increase until it is no longer sub-perceptual. Once you reach that threshold, reduce the dose slightly to find your 'sweet spot,' which is unique to each individual.

For LSD, starting with 5 micrograms and increasing by 5-10 micrograms at a time is advisable. For psilocybin, beginners might start between 20-50 mg, with some noticing effects as low as 15 mg. Do not exceed 100 mg for psilocybin or 25 micrograms for LSD during microdosing.

Frequency: Establishing a Microdosing Routine

When beginning, it is beneficial to follow an established protocol such as the Fadiman or Stamets protocols, which have been effective for many. Over time, you might develop a personal routine based on your experiences.

Fadiman Protocol: Dose on Day 1, benefit from the afterglow on Day 2, return to baseline on Day 3, and dose again on Day 4.

Stamets Protocol: Five days on, two days off, or four days on, three days off.

Microdosing Institute Protocol: One day on, two days off.

Some individuals find benefits in microdosing every other day or even daily, though daily microdosing can lead to faster tolerance buildup.

Duration of Microdosing

Microdosing should be practiced for at least one month to assess its impact on your life. It is important to recognize that microdosing is not a quick fix; it requires commitment and integration into daily life. The benefits are cumulative, so patience is key.

Taking Breaks

After 2-3 months of consistent microdosing, a 2-4 week break is recommended. Continuous use without breaks can lead to tolerance, reducing the effectiveness of the substance. Unlike daily prescription medications, microdosing should not be approached as an everyday solution.

Tracking Your Progress

Journaling is a vital tool for tracking your microdosing journey. Document your dosages, substances, timing, and how you feel throughout the process. This practice will help you fine-tune your routine and better understand what works for you.

Assessing the Impact of Microdosing

If you notice changes from microdosing, they may show up as shifts in various areas of life, such as mood, thought patterns, or outlook. These changes may be subtle at first, so it is essential to remain patient and observant.

Microdosing is a journey of self-discovery and growth. By following the guidelines outlined in this course and experimenting with different approaches, you can explore the potential benefits that microdosing may offer in enhancing your life.

Research Context

The one-day-on, two-days-off protocol was introduced and later tracked in 98 microdosers over 6 weeks, finding small but consistent improvements in attention and psychological well-being.

Your first step:

Choose a protocol that fits your schedule. Write your chosen protocol into your calendar for the next 30 days. Consistency matters more than which protocol you pick.
