Abstract

A comprehensive review of LSD pharmacology covering pharmacokinetics, mechanism of action, and safety. Documents that daily LSD dosing produces rapid tolerance to subjective effects within 2-3 days, with baseline sensitivity returning within about 3-4 days after cessation, and identifies 5-HT2A receptor downregulation in animal studies as the likely underlying mechanism.
